Registered with Ontario Ministry of Education, Dewey College is a premium private high school and a preparatory school for colleges and universities that admit both Canadian and international students. The school’s curriculum and instruction are reviewed regularly by the Private School’s inspection branch of the Ministry. Upon graduation from Dewey, students receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.). The O.S.S.D. is an internationally recognized diploma. All academic courses at Dewey College have been developed according to the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education. Each academic course (110 hours of instruction) represents one academic credit. Students is required to earn 30 academic credits to receive the O.S.S.D. To be eligible for university entrance, at least six of these credits must be Grade 12, university preparatory courses。

18 COMPULSORY CREDITS AND 12 ELECTIVE CREDITS
A total of eighteen compulsory credits are required:
- 4 credits in English (1 per grade)
- 1 credit in French as a Second Language
- 3 credits in Mathematics (at least 1 credit in Grade 11 or 12)
- 2 credits in Science
- 1 credit in Canadian History
- 1 credit in Canadian Geography
- 1 credit in the Arts
- 1 credit in Physical and Health Education
- 0.5 credit in Civics
- 0.5 credit in Career Studies (taught as an integral part of the Guidance program)
Plus:
- 1 additional credit in English, or French as a second language, or a native language, or a classical or international language, or social sciences and the humanities, or Canadian and world studies, or guidance and career education, or cooperative education
- 1 additional credit in health and physical education, or the arts, or business studies, or cooperative education, or French as a second language
- 1 additional credit in science (Grade 11 or 12) or technological education (Grades 9 – 12), or French as a second language, or cooperative education, or computer studies
In addition to the 18 compulsory credits, students must earn 12 optional credits.
40 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE AND LITERACY TEST
As part of the diploma requirements, students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities and pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
Opportunities for community involvement are made available by the school throughout the school year.
The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is undertaken during a student’s Grade 10 year or their first year at Dewey College,whichever comes first.
